As a Dad of two boys, Alex, 9, and Adam, 7, the idea for kids.co.uk came about when I was watching them take their first tentative steps in surfing the net. They both knew Google but weren't exactly sure what to search for, and as a parent I was naturally concerned about what they might find.

So I thought, 'Wouldn't it be good if there was a site for kids which provided links to the safest and the best kids websites, and had some good content of its own?' When I couldn't find one, I came up with the idea for kids.co.uk. It started life as a basic portal based on some of my sons' favourite sites and then grew...

Today, the site has grown but we still vet everything that gets added to kids.co.uk extremely carefully. We also have a dedicated 'Parents' section with useful tips on installing parental control software to stop kids from clicking through links to unsuitable sites and protect them from potential online predators.
